The Foundry Story

The Foundry had its humble beginning in 1978, when 28 people gathered for worship at Post Elementary School in Jersey Village. In 1984, Rev. Godfrey Hubert was appointed as senior pastor. Under his leadership the congregation has grown from 175 members to nearly 5,000 members, becoming a Christian beacon in Northwest Houston.

In April of 2008, Foundry made the decision to be faithful to the great commission by growing with our community, and our second campus was launched in the Fry Road area.

What's in a name?

In the mid-1700's, John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, needed a place to serve as the headquarters for the growing Christian movement. He purchased an abandoned cannon ball factory in the heart of London, and after making needed repairs, he opened it as a center for worship and teaching. It was known as Foundry Chapel. A year later it burned down, and was rebuilt half a block away as Wesley Chapel. It remains open for ministry to this day.

By the grace of God, The Foundry Church is a recognized name in our community, committed to its mission: "We are God's Foundry to transform all people into faithful servants of Christ."

The Story Behind the Foundry Logo
The symbol used in our logo is a visual representation of a spiritual foundry, where all people are transformed into faithful servants of Jesus Christ. God pours himself into us as Christians and we can pour ourselves into others to transform lives. “I will refine you like silver and test you like gold. You will call on me and I will answer; you will be my people, and I will be your God.” - Zechariah 13:9
