Haiti in Crisis

For more than a decade, Foundry has partnered with Gersan and Betty Valcin in Haiti. We have taken mission teams to serve alongside these ministry partners at Jacob’s Well in Northern Haiti for 13 years. The Valcins live in Port-au-Prince, where Gersan is the pastor at The Village Church. Over the years, we have all witnessed the turmoil in Haiti. However, the situation has deteriorated to an unimaginable level as gangs have taken over the city.

The Valcins have made the very difficult decision to leave Haiti. This comes after years of praying and discerning God’s will for their future and the future of their ministry. They have not been able to get out of the city. As you have likely seen in the news, gangs have taken over the city and it is not safe to leave home. Gersan is also taking good care to ensure the church has pastoral leadership in his absence. Even in these difficult times, the church is growing, lives are being transformed, and hope is being shared with those in need. Please join us in praying for these specific needs:

  1. Peace and stability for the country: This past week has been particularly violent with significant loss of lives.

  2. The Village Church: Pray that services would continue to broadcast even in the chaos and that a Haitian pastor can be located to relieve Gersan.

  3. Discernment and Safety: Pray for Betty and Gersan and their plans and preparation as they contemplate leaving their home.
